Aluminium windows have become the default choice for most modern buildings in Ghana, especially in cities like Accra, Tema, and Takoradi. But in real installation work, what works on paper is not always what performs best on site.
Over the years, we’ve worked on different types of projects — from residential apartments in East Legon and Cantonments to commercial buildings in Adabraka and Spintex. One thing remains consistent: the performance of aluminium windows depends heavily on correct profiling, proper installation, and material quality.
In Ghana’s climate, heat and dust are constant factors. If a window system is not properly sealed or aligned, you begin to notice issues very early — light air leakage, difficulty in sliding, or water seepage during heavy rains. These are not design problems alone; they are installation and specification problems.
For example, on one residential project in Accra, the client initially selected a lightweight profile to reduce cost. Within a few months of installation, the windows started to loosen slightly due to frequent use and wind pressure. We had to upgrade the system to a heavier-duty aluminium profile with stronger rollers and improved locking mechanisms.
This is why we always advise clients not to focus only on appearance or price. A good aluminium window should feel solid when operated, close tightly without force, and remain stable even after years of use.
At Lucid Glazing Systems, we approach every project with site conditions in mind. Coastal areas like Takoradi require different considerations compared to inland developments like Kumasi or Accra. These small differences make a big impact on long-term performance.
In the end, a well-installed aluminium window is not just about design — it’s about comfort, durability, and reliability every day.
